ShuttlU - Terms of Service

1. Introduction

Welcome to ShuttlU, a ridesharing platform exclusively for college students. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the ShuttlU website, mobile application, and services (collectively, the "Service").

By accessing or using ShuttlU, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of the Terms, you may not access the Service.

2. Eligibility

ShuttlU is exclusively available to currently enrolled college students. By using ShuttlU, you represent and warrant that:

  • You are currently enrolled as a student at an accredited college or university
  • You are at least 18 years of age
  • You agree to provide proof of your student status if requested
  • You possess a valid form of identification

3. Account Registration

To use ShuttlU, you must create an account using your college email address. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information
  • Maintain and promptly update your account information
  • Keep your password secure and confidential
  • Notify ShuttlU immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
  • Be solely responsible for all activities that occur under your account

4. Ridesharing Rules

When using ShuttlU as a driver, you agree to:

  • Possess a valid driver's license and auto insurance that meets or exceeds state minimum requirements
  • Maintain your vehicle in safe and good working condition
  • Follow all traffic laws and regulations
  • Not drive under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any substances that impair your ability to drive safely
  • Provide accurate information about your vehicle, departure times, routes, and available seats
  • Honor all ride commitments barring legitimate emergencies

When using ShuttlU as a rider, you agree to:

  • Be on time for scheduled pickups
  • Treat drivers and their vehicles with respect
  • Not request drivers to violate traffic laws or engage in unsafe driving practices
  • Pay promptly for rides according to the agreed-upon terms
  • Provide accurate information about the number of passengers and amount of luggage

5. Payments and Cancellations

ShuttlU facilitates payments between riders and drivers. All users agree to:

  • Pay the full amount for rides as shown in the app
  • Accept ShuttlU's payment processing fees
  • Not arrange for payment outside the ShuttlU platform

Cancellation Policy:

  • Riders may cancel up to 24 hours before the scheduled departure without penalty
  • Cancellations made less than 24 hours before departure may be subject to a cancellation fee of up to 50% of the ride cost
  • Drivers who cancel rides less than 24 hours before departure without a legitimate emergency may be subject to penalties
  • Repeated cancellations by either riders or drivers may result in account suspension

6. Safety Guidelines

Safety is our top priority. All users must:

  • Verify the identity of drivers/riders before starting a trip
  • Share trip details with a friend or family member
  • Report any safety concerns or incidents to ShuttlU immediately
  • Not carry weapons, illegal substances, or dangerous materials during rides
  • Follow all COVID-19 and other health safety protocols as required
  • Wear seatbelts at all times during rides

7. User Conduct

All users agree not to:

  • Harass, abuse, or harm other users
  • Discriminate based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, or age
  • Create false accounts or provide false information
  • Use the Service for any illegal purpose
  • Attempt to decompile, reverse engineer, or hack the Service
  • Transmit viruses or other harmful computer code
  • Interfere with the proper working of the Service

8. Limitation of Liability

ShuttlU serves solely as a platform to connect college student drivers with college student riders. We are not responsible for:

  • The actions or behavior of any users
  • The safety, condition, or legality of any vehicles
  • The accuracy of directions, routes, or estimated times
  • Personal injuries, property damage, or losses that may occur during rides
  • Disputes between users

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SHUTTLU SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, PERSONAL INJURY, PROPERTY DAMAGE, LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF INCOME OR PROFIT, OR OTHER LOSSES.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

ShuttlU does not guarantee that the Service will function without interruption or errors. The use of the Service is at your own risk.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless ShuttlU, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, and representatives from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, expenses, or fees (including reasonable attorneys' fees) that arise from or relate to:

  • Your use or misuse of the Service
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any rights of another person or entity
  • Your conduct in connection with the Service

11. Dispute Resolution

Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved through:

  1. Informal negotiation – We encourage you to contact us first to discuss any concerns
  2. Mediation – If direct negotiation is unsuccessful, the dispute may be submitted to mediation
  3. Arbitration – If mediation fails, the dispute shall be settled by binding arbitration in accordance with the American Arbitration Association rules

Any proceedings shall take place in the State of Florida, in English, and shall be governed by Florida law.

12. Termination

ShuttlU reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account and access to the Service at any time for any reason, including but not limited to:

  • Violation of these Terms
  • Engaging in fraudulent or illegal activities
  • Creating safety risks for other users
  • Repeated cancellations or no-shows
  • Receipt of multiple complaints from other users

13. Modifications to the Terms

ShuttlU reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of significant changes through the Service or via email. Your continued use of the Service after such modifications constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
